[RC] Northern Calif. horses need home..... - Karen Sullivan

I hate to post this stuff and embarassed for my county....but here is
it...last week 22 horses were confiscated from a breeder in Upper Lake,
neglect and starvation. I heard the breeder voluntarily turned over the 22
horses and was allowed to keep the remaining 23......but yesterday Animal
Control found another 20 that were hidden....and in worse condition than the
ones listed below. Perhaps there might be some endurance prospects; the
mustang babies I saw looked just fine (mothers in horrible shape), one Arab
and many, many SSH and TWH.

Anyway, I cannot give any more info, although I have seen the horses. None
are trained or have been handled. They can be viewed at the Lake County
Animal Care and Control, and sealed bids are being taken until May 14.
Please call Lake County Animal Care and Control for more info. at
707-263-0278. Lake County is about 3 hours north east of San Francisco, and
2 hours northwest of Sacramento.

I had thought the breeder was mainly raising SSH, and was standing a
buckskin pinto stallion, but there is one Arab, the mustangs and some
crosses. As far as horses listed below; some of the numbers are the
same....so don't know why, just copied it all out of the paper.

I sincerely hope all the horses go to good homes and would think a better
chance of that out of this county.

BTW, many of the SSH listed as buckskin look more Champagne color to me....I
have no idea what the additional 20 horses are yet.

I don't think you have to join a gym or buy frilly outfits to get some
fitness. A decent set of shoes and a 15 minute dismount here and there
will help.
