RE: [RC] [RC] Traumatic Brain Injury & I wasn't even riding - Laurie DurginOne day I was standing next to my 'spooky, reactive mare. We were waiting for Rascal to finsih his feed in his stall, he made an ugly face at her for standing near his closed door when dinner was on. She swung her head around to advoid his 'face'. She smacked me above the eye knocking me down with lights flashing. I couldln't stand for a couple minutes , I crawled towards the house, but then could get up. I iced it and that was all. I do have a permanent lump near my temple. Probably cracked or broke it, but never had it x-rayed.And these two horses were raised together and get along great, occasionally, if food or treats are at issue he will nip her neck and she usually goes 'so what'. My 3 yr old has occasionally gotten pushy and knocke me down once with the feed buckets in my hand. He had been good about space , I wasn't afraid of carrying them down and him following me the 25 feet to his stall, and I made him wait , while the bucket gets put up. But there are times I know this isn't real wise. . . . And he does sometimes get too eager and I have to make him back off. He is pretty mellow guy, But again, this isn't the wisest move. . .
