[RC] The Full Chico and my response to it. - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

 We always start with quiet aids.I am so used to the Full Chico these days
that I generally do my half of the deal with a minimum of adrenaline on my
part.Mind you,while the Full Chico is going on,I am often riding with the left
hand only,while reaching into a plastic bucket of live quail,riding through
trees and brush,to put out a bird in a good spot for the next brace of dogs.Or
looking for a lost dog.The group/herd,of which Chico of course feels he is the
rightful leader,is cantering away over the hill.No,he is not in the least
frightened of the bird bucket which is hanging from the saddle.What we do not
do is go where Chico wants to go,when he wants to go there.Custom made spurs
are a big help here.We plant the bird,or scout that dog.Then we catch
up,pronto.(don't need spurs for that.)No,catching up slowly won't be any
easier,and I need to be up there asap anyway. Years ago in these situations I
tried the Full Ray,with a stiff rubber hose plus anger,and wound up on the
ground every time.If he feels he is being mistreated and wants the rider off
his back,it happens instantaneously. I do love him,which may be pretty
foolish.Don't know whether he cares if I live or die.My dogs do!
