[RC] Cut Throat and drinking coffee to boot!!! - Laura Hayes

I have to respond to "Kathy" with the fake email address who was upset over the cut throat attitude and the coffee drinking (from 'little' cups, no less) of some riders in Florida lately....she states she has been in this sport a long time and it wasn't like that years ago.  I have one word for that, and I think it is Howard's (egad!) the word is BUNK.

First, Years ago, some people stayed up to all hours of the morning in front of campfires, playing bad Hank Williams songs and drinking booze, some people ran the pants off themselves and their horses if they could get away with it, and they skipped trail, were rude to strangers and bad mouthed the vets if they felt inclined.  SOME people...back then....just like NOW.  You can find some one anywhere who will offend you if you let them.  To tell you the truth, I don't think the sport has changed all that much with the advent of big money (which I think has DECLINED in the last few years, BTW).

You can go to the grocery store and find people you like and people you don't like.  The ratio of each and your desire for groceries will dictate whether you continue to shop there.  Endurance is no different.  In my experience (22 year worth) most endurance riders are great people who will go out their way to help and be friendly.  Face value, take it or leave it.
