Having had both, I prefer Diesel with a Banks Turbo added.  Although with the 
new Fords and Duramaxes I don't think you need the added turbo.  I have an 
older, '93 Dodge with the Turbo and Exhaust Brake and love it which is good, 
because I will never be able to afford to replace it.  I used to have an '83 
Ford Diesel and I know it is still going and has about 300,000 miles on 
it.......I know my truck gets about 10-14 mph pulling a 31' 3 horse slant load 
with LQ and my roommate's Dodge gas engines gets about 6 mph..........mb
