[RC] question for gaited horse riding people-nicole, ridecamp guest - Ed Kilpatrick

hi nicole,  you didnt understand what jackie was trying to tell you.  she was explaining about posture on gaited horses and how it relates to their gait.  the situation you are describing, a heavy person on a small horse, rider out of position, lord knows what kind of saddle they are using,  could certainly make the horse have a sore back.  but this does not mean that gaited horses in general are prone to sore backs because some of the riders sit back a little more than someone on a trotting horse. dana described very well what light in the saddle means and how it is so different riding a paso fino without the bouncing and the impact one is accustomed to with a trotting horse. without more information,  i cant offer a solution to the problem you are describing.   write me with additional info, and i will be glad to try and help.   ed    whytrotfarmsatyahoodotcom
