[RC] Soreness after sheath cleaning - Ag47xAu49

Monday my daughters pony had his sheath cleaned by the dental vet. She used a water based lubricating jelly. Today we took him out for his first ride down the back road. As he warmed up, he became increasingly aggitated. We brought him back into the corral and I had my daughter ride him up and down the slight hill that is in the corral. He got to the point that he would try to kick his sheath with both hind feet. Could he be sore? Could it be salt from sweat inside the sheath (he is extremely hairy and overweight) that could be causing the irritation? Should I gently rinse the inside with warm water or just leave it alone and let it heal, if irritation is the problem? Beccy in Ut.
