[RC] FEI WEC 2004/05 - Steve Shaw

Twice now I/we have had inquiries about Tallymark from peoples from the Mid East. It is really hard to turn down hundreds of thousands of dollars for a horse that you bought for $4,000, put $2,000 into and have had loads of fun riding for five years. I really have to thank Marcia Smith for her insights about FEI and racing out-of-states that help me not to take the offer.... and Michele for wanting to perform rather than just take the gold ring....
I know this is a stupid business decision, but sometimes you just have to watch the sun sets...

Riding alone is when you teach a horse all the "tools" and "cues" he needs
to handle the trail, to hold a speed, deal with hills, etc. It's also where
you develop the "bond" that causes him to "defer" to you before losing his
cool.
