Re: [RC] [RC] horses and weather - Laurie Durgin

oops forgot . Yes have had occasional sap problem. Rubbing alcohol on a rag takes it off.
You can insulate your water tank/and/or use a deicer about 35.00$ floating or sinking kind. I use a deicer, because some horses won't drink real cold water, and had two older ones. They do drink more when I use it. Has automatic shut off. Keeps water above 45 or so. I put my trough up against the fence, so the deicer cord isn't tempting, not to say it hasn't been played with.(on a ground fault interrup[ter circut.)

2) natural shelters -- what types of trees do you prefer? if it's
pine/fir, is there any issue with sap getting in the horses' manes and tails,
and, if so, how do you deal with it?

4) keeping water unfrozen

Thanks!!!
