Re: [RC] ATHLETE defined - Stewart, Carrie

Somehow, while reading this thread, I came to the conclusion that
endurance is a 'team' effort. Yes, my horse does most of the physical
work and I am going along for the ride, but, I use my brains and
experience to guide him through the ride. I condition him and myself at
the same time, being sure that we are in top condition so I can be
balanced and focused on the ride. I know he needs to go a certain pace.
I know he needs to drink and eat at certain time during the ride. I
monitor his general well-being during the ride so he doesn't get into
trouble. Without me, my horse would be just as happy to spend time
hanging out in the pasture. Without him, I would be just as happy
vegging out in front of the TV. :o) When put together, we are two
parts of a whole that make an athletic team.

Carrie Stewart

Through his mane and tail the high wind sings,
Fanning the hairs, who wave like feather'd wings.
