[RC] Training facilities and other countries - Laura Hayes

I think John's description of specific intense team training has been
applied in other countries besides the UAE. France, who won the team gold
in Spain, and the Aussies who finished well, were very much TEAMS. They
train together year round, ride together, and when it comes to selection,
the selectors KNOW which horses and riders have the right stuff, not just
who finished well at a ride or two. They know who is having lameness
problems, or who doesn't travel well, or who isn't a team player.

I am not saying that the US team in Spain wasn't a super group of athletes
(both human and equine), but that other countries have selection and
training methods that put them in a better spot to be competitive.

There, a perch from Lake Erie....(which is frozen solid for the first winter
in many years...)
