Re: [RC] Deaths - the list - Susan Young Casey

If, God forbid, my beloved horse died at a ride, I'm
SURE I'd want to know why.  So, how much does an
autopsy cost?  How much for "disposal"?  

I know I'm going to upset some with this comment
but...

As a foxhunter, we've had hounds killed (falling off a
cliff, getting kicked by a horse, anurism (sp?)) and
have left the hounds where they died or moved it to a
secluded location.  There has also been one horse
death at a hunter pace where the horse suffered an
anurism (pony clubber's mount...devestating) and we
moved the mare to a nice spot and left her.  We were
"giving" back to nature what is nature's.  This all
happened on private property.  However, this may not
be allowed someplaces.  

So, cost again?  Some of us can barely make it to and
from the rides.  Hope there's some kind of payment plan.
