RE: [RC] trailer brakes/truck brakes - Alison Farrin

Have to comment that if you have a diesel truck, a Jake brake is the best $750
you can spend. Hubby had a heart attack that I'd driven our new truck 38,000
miles (90% of them towing) and hadn't changed the brake pads. When the
mechanic pulled them off, they were barely more than 50% worn. In my mind,
this is wholly attributable to the fact that I only use the brakes to come to a
complete stop. I use the Jake to slow down, I use the Jake to slow down before
I stop. You want enough brake to stop your trailer, add a Jake!

The company that makes Jake brakes now or will soon have a resistance braking
product for gas engines. That should be a good thing!
