[RC] Leg Maintainance - Roger Rittenhouse

This subject is now on the cycle. Here is my input

CONDITIONING - Easy workouts 5 miles or less. Hose off legs turn out.
Hard workout. Hose off legs, towel dry then rub in ample amount of
the 'RR Leg Recipe' Since its cheap I use lots of it. I may also work
some into the large muscle groups. Its an all purpose liniment. I may
use the OHC Stockin-up. I cut it with Aloe Gel 50/50

POST COMPETITION. Apply the 'Recipe' then ice boots. I use
Sung Ice or the sheets of gel crystals that I have soaked and frozen
in the LQ freezer. I also have the MacKinnion First Ice wraps with a
soft gel pack. This very nice. Even when melted and just kept in the ice
chest they work great.

I ice for 20 minutes. Then re-soak with the recipe.
If I 'think' more is needed we ice again. I may use the OHC
STOCKIN-UP. I just keep checking the legs for the hour or 2 after the
finish. I look for hot spots. I may use the IR Temp unit to check.

I rarely ever use poultice. I never wrap a poultice when I do use
one.
I do not wrap at all while in camp. Unless there is an issue.
I will feed a good dose of MSM, Vit E and C after a ride/race. I
manage the inflammatory issues internally and externally.

I use shipping boots to travel.
Before we load up I apply the recipe to soak the legs and put on the
boots. I use the Lende Boots - costly - but they do they offer LOTS of
protection and support.
When we get home I soak the legs again ,turn out and watch for
soundness issues.
