Sweat (actually the salts in sweat) dissolves enough copper from brass tack
to cause a green discoloration on hair and or skin.  About the only thing
that can be done is to switch to stainless steel tack, or clear lacquer the
brass.  The lacquer would have to be renewed at frequent intervals.

I just ignore the green marks on my grey horse.
