Re: [RC] [Guest] Arab/Appy crosses - Paddi

Roy Cyst has wonderful arab/appy crosses.
He has been riding for years and has over 10000 miles.
4 Tevis buckles. He has never had any problems with tumors and cancer in his
horses that I know of
His grand daughter is riding Redee Magic in 50s and winning the jr division.
Redee is 19 years young.
Redees dam is still alive and healthy at 24 or 25
I would not take one vets comments as the norm.
Heck if you want tumors and cancer get a grey arab.
They are expected to get cancer at some time
My 17 year old gelding has lots under his tail and he is still going strong

Happy Holidays
Paddi

My Arab/Appy Lippy comes from TnB Spots in Oxford, Ohio. His breeder,
Terry Kaufman, has his full sister, 3/4 Arab (alas no spots yet), who is
4,
I think, and several younger 1/2 Arabs with color. Her site is on the
Appaloosa Web Ring.

I have always liked appys and  have had two great Arab/appy crosses;
always
sort of looking for a tall cross, however what a vet told me has made me
possibly
reconsider.

I sold an exceptional Arab appy to a friend, becase the mare was just too
small for me.
I never have yet found another horse of any breed that was as smooth and
surefooted as
that mare. Anyway, she developed a tumor over her eye, that had to be
removed as it
would have put pressure on the eye ball. The biopsy showed it was
cancerous
(my friend
had it removed and treated and it never reoccured). Anyway, the vet';s
comment to me was that
he had seen a lot of skin tumors and cancers on appys...and would probably
not buy one for
that reason. I am wondering if anyone else has had problems with this....
Karen
