[RC] Do I need to use my horse's registered name for breed awards? (Morgan) - Karen Casemier

I've been wondering how breed awards work, both from the breed association side and the highest placing horse in the breed at rides.

I have a registered Morgan mare who has an absolutely awful registered name. I have a variation on her barn name that I would like to compete her under. How would this affect any breed recognition for the miles I earn? I know the Morgan Horse association will track her miles if I enroll her in the program, and I also know that some rides have rewards for the highest placing Morgan horse.

I suppose in the long run, it doesn't matter. I don't ever plan on selling this mare, so in theory there is no *practical* purpose for tracking her milage by the Morgan Horse association, but it would just be nice for me -- I'm sure I will never be a top finisher at rides, so it would be another way for me to "earn some points."

Karen and Mazzie (who won't even allow me to tell you her registered name, because she hates it)
