After extensive discussions between dedicated members
of the United States endurance community and the USA-E, the following
letter serves to explain the very positive outcome of
these negotiations. A special thanks to Tony
Benedetti, Dane Frazier DVM, Jim Baldwin DVM, and Jerry Gillespie DVM
for the extraordinary amount of time and thoughtful effort given to this
issue on behalf of our sport.

>Consistent with your request, on January 19 the USA Equestrian Board of
>Directors approved the rule changes I proposed, which in effect
classify the
>anti-ulcer medications as forbidden in the Endurance Riding Division.
Also,
>the Board of Directors renewed the division's status as a No Foreign
>Substance Group under Article 409 of the Equine Drugs and Medications
Rule.
