Re: [RC] [CrabbetArabianHorseForum] Re: Heidi Smith ~~ need to get hold of her !!!!!!!!!!! URGENT !!!!! - Heidi Smith

God bless all of you who relayed messages to me at the Monarch Hotel in
Portland where the PNER convention was being held. This is a very special
colt, and he somehow managed to defy the odds and survive what appeared to
be endotoxic shock. He shattered a cannon bone on Dec. 11, and has made a
REMARKABLE recovery from that. He is still residing at Melanie's in a full
leg cast, and we are not entirely sure what triggered this latest
problem--possibly an ulcer, from everything else he has been through.
Thanks to Melanie and to one of our wonderful local vets (who is this little
guy's biggest fan, I think, after working with him to conquer the fracture),
he seems to be out of danger. After chewing my fingernails all weekend and
calling home every couple of hours, it was sure a relief to see him home
from the hospital at Melanie's this evening, eating and drinking, albeit
somewhat the worse for wear. It sure is wonderful to have so many great
friends out there that care enough to pass along an SOS.
