I've been a bit haunted by the tragic loss of Zoom Zoom & the other horses,& I wanted to add a thought that might be helpful in a future situation. What about using a thermal imager? Many fire departments are now purchasing them for their units as the prices have come down. My husband is an officer on an engine company, his unit was assigned a TI a year ago - what an amazing tool! Ride managers could determine if any FD in their ride locations have them, or perhaps AERC or a regional group could purchase one & have available to ship in the case of a lost horse or rider?
