Re: [RC] [Guest] Hauling with heads out windows - Born Country

This is the set-up we have, too. It's an Exiss 3
horse slant. We open all the sliding windows and the
vents for the horses. Rarely do we allow the windows
down with just the grills up, but when we do, we put
fly masks on the horses.

Am I the only one with a window setup like this? Its
very safe and the
horses have plenty of air flow. My windows have 2
drops down pieces. The
first (outside) is a tinted safety glass window that
has a sliding piece in
it with a screen behind it. The second section
(inner) is vertical metal
bars. The horses can press their noses right up to
the bars but can't get
anymore than a wiggling lip out of it. It allows for
as much air flow as an
open window but they can't get their heads or any
part out so safety is
there as well. My trailer is a Double D and was made
in Pink Hill, NC. I do
fully open my windows when traveling but only when
we are completely
stopped (such as a rest area) and I make sure I park
with their open side
on an "edge" (overhanging a non traffic area). I
also make sure I put their
bars back up or have somebody stay with them if I
have to walk away for any
reason. One other precaution I take when traveling
is if it is hot out and
I have just the bars up I make sure to put fly masks
on to try and filter
out at least some of the debris that gets kicked up.
I know it doesn't
catch everything but at least it helps with rocks
and such.
