(and David - I did cut the suede trim off the pad, it gets rough and hard
with sweat/dirt and I felt it was rubbing, especially under the billets...
nothing like taking the scissors to a $200 saddle pad :)

That was my exact feeling, Steph.  It made me sick to spend that much
money on a pad, then cut it up!  However, sounds like this works well for
you.  Is that the only modification you made? (cutting off the trim) BTW, 
for others following this thread that don't own a RP.  This pad thing is a
minor detail.  It is the greatest saddle I've ever ridden.  I love mine so
much.  I do endurance, dressage and jumping in mine.  And, although it was
bought for my mare, Nellie, and fits her best, I've used it without
problems on my two other horses.  Cindy
