I have this perspective about ride and ties. Back in the olden times, 
before the "sport" and when it was used for purpose..... you could not 
pick your trail or partner (thus my willingness to do one with 
Merryben!!!! some of the most fun I have ever had!) You just had to play 
the hand that was dealt you.   So I would go to any RAT even if there 
were not enough ties, as this would just add another, new dimension to 
the event.....
