[RC] [Guest] Forest Service Permits - Ridecamp Moderator

patty peck pattywildheart
One way or another it is getting more difficult to use public lands. Whether it be loss of trails or ride sites. I just got off the phone with the "special permits person" from the Gifford Pinchot National Forest in Washington State to start the sanctioning process for a new ride here in the NW near Mt. St Helens with ride camp being at an established horse camp. I was told that new permits are no longer an option for any kind of acivity whether it be horse, lama, snow mobile or rock climbing. There was no room for disscussion, only that for the time being they will renew exsisting permits issued in the last year and they do not expect this "new" policy to change. So if you have an exsisting permit HANG ON TO IT, if you can't manage the ride yourself find someone who will. This could mean a slow death to endurance as we know it.
