[RC] [Guest] Lame Paso - Ridecamp Moderator

Karen Nelson knelson@xxxxxxxxxx
Gaited horses often get quarter cracks due to the angle stress their feet take. Friend of mine in So Cal had the problem chronically with her paso mare. And she wasn't a hard rider. We solved it with daily applications of NEOSPORIN. Didn't matter if sand/dirt got on the outside of the hoof everyday. Used a paper towel, and an old toothbrush, and cleaned it and re-applied Neosporin every day or so. Took about 2 months, but got enough grease/healing stuff into the crack that it was more pliable and not splitting up and up over and over again. Cheap enough to try if vet/shoer decides this is the problem. Can't overlook the opposite leg, like the other post said, tho. Good Luck.
