[RC] conditioning when you live in the desert?? - CTRider1085

Hey guys!

Sorry for the possible crossposting, but my family is considering moving a desert/high-desert area of California in the next year and I'm kinda worried that I won't have the same conditioning advantages up there that I do down here.  So, I wanted to ask those of you who live in a desert area, how do you condition (for both endurance and CTR)?  How do you do longer rides if there's hardly any/no water?  How do you deal with it being blazing hot for those 3 summer months (and sometimes more)?
For any of you who want to know where it is that we're moving to, it's Hesperia-Apple Valley area, right at the beginning of the Mojave River (big plus; BLM land is at our back door).  I kinda feel that in moving up there, our training is going from rocks/hills/water to sand/flat/no water.  I know that I can trailer out to places that have the aforementioned rocky hills, and really, that's no big deal, but those questions have been bugging me and so I thought I'd come out of lurk mode to get some input. ;o)

Thanks for reading!
