[RC] Results of the Ballot on the Bylaws Change - Michael Maul

The recent AERC ballot on the Bylaws change was approved by a vote of 1610 yes to 397 no.

The text discussing the bylaws change that went with the ballot is:

General information accompanying ballot to the general membership, pertaining to a change in the bylaws with respect to the definition of “Regular Member.”

“The new AERC bylaws were approved by the membership last year and are now in effect. The new bylaws only allow citizens of the U.S. or Canada to be regular members. Regular members have the right to vote in AERC
elections. This amendment would allow resident aliens to join as regular members also. Resident aliens are people who live in the U.S. or Canada legally but who are not citizens. Please be sure to vote and return your ballot. Even though the Board has already approved this amendment, it will fail under our quorum requirements unless at least 20% of the
members (1,033) vote and return their ballots.

–John Parke, Chairman, Legal & Bylaws Committee
