[RC] LSD question - rides2far

I do about a 10 mile ride at about 5 miles an hour speed, would that
be considered too much to start out with? Or should it be more of a 3
mile an hour walk ride for 5 miles or so.

Your formula needs to include, "and give how much time off afterwards".
If I was going to ride him 6 days a week, I'd be really conservative. If
you're going to train twice a week with recovery days in between (that's
when they're really getting in shape in response to the work day) you can
do that too.

We're kinda starting a 10 year old 14 hand 3/4 Welsh, 1/4 TB we've had
as a yard pony his whole life. He went 10 miles yesterday in 6 hours as
we cleared trail so there were stretches of trotting a mile or so, then
there was following the rider down the trail as she prunes & digs up
little stobs. That's my favorite kind of LSD. Walk the trails, toss off
the rocks, then trot back over the same trail. Do all the stuff you won't
hav time to do after he's in shape. Just *don't forget the recovery days
between training rides!* :-)
