[RC] [Guest] Beet pulp and molasses - Ridecamp Moderator

Pat Bush kenpat@xxxxxxx
Susan or Heidi - I have started feeding a one pound coffee can of dry beet pulp soaked and maybe a pound of complete feed (Elk Grove Milling Senior Stable Mix - 13% protein)per day to my new gelding to keep weight on. He also gets timothy hay twice a day and is on pasture about 8 hours a day. Everything was going fine, never a spook and always drank and ate everything in site while on the trail. But, the other day on a training ride he was bouncing off the walls. Very unlike him. Wouldn't drink and his pulse stayed fairly high until we got back to the trailer. Then it went down fast, as it usually does. My question - do beet pulp pellets have molasses in them and is the mix of the beet pulp and complete feed a bad combination?
