Re: [RC] [RC] would you pay to have your horse's sheath cleaned? - DeAnn Schnepple

Since we aren't showing our horses (at least most of us) why not offer to get the top ten finishers ready to be shown for best condition. Most riders are tired after riding 50 or more miles and the LD riders are usually novices that don't yet know what you need to do to show for BC. I don't top 10 on the endurance rides, but almost all my LD's are top 10 and I think if I were a novice I'd love it if someone offered to groom my horses for me (for a price).

I am wracking my brain to come up with money-making ideas to
help pay for my horses surgery for roaring. One thought is to
offer sheath-cleaning at local rides (Fair Hill, Old Dominion),
as I am not squeamish and it does not ake much by way of special
equipment or supplies. Would you pay for such a service? If
so, how much? Is at a ride a good time (presumably after the
ride) or would you rather let your horse rest un-molested?

Any other ideas on services that could be offered (legally!) at
rides?

Thanks!
Amanda

Just for liability purposes I wouldn't want anyone who wasn't a vet (and can tranquilize the horse) messing around under the back legs of my horse. You could get hurt.

One very lucrative source of income that I've heard of is to learn how to braid or clip to horse show, dressage, hunt standards and offer your services as a groomer at shows or in pre-show prep.
