[RC] Feeding 3 yr olds. - Nina Vasiliev

Hello,

I was searching the archives for what Susan suggested we feed our younger horses and couldn't find it. If someone knows where it is or what the heading was, please let me know. I did run across a note saying that 3 yr olds should be fed like our adult horses...

I'm just checking...I'm buying a 3 yr old morgan. I live in the Sacramento area of CA. I board at a stable and my Arab gets rye hay, (he leaves a little uneatten), 2 lbs, dry shredded beet pulp, 1 lb of LMF Super Sup, corn oil with a little oive oil mixed in, one cup flax seed, 20 mg biotin, salt and clean well water, (we have hard water here) and about 5 lbs carrots/wk. If I leave off the oil, even though it's only about 1 1/2 cup, he starts to loose wt. Otherwise, he's at a condition score of 4.5-5, (if I'm scoring it right.) Is this okay for a 3 year old who will be 4 in April? Okay for a 12 yr old arab?

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

NIna
