Re: [RC] Natural Balance Shoes cost - Truman Prevatt

If the farrier is used to using NBS shoes it takes no more time for them than any other shoe. In fact by the time my farrier shapes a new pair of eventers to fit my horse it will takes longer for the eventers than the NBS.

From our local farrier supply: Aluminum New Balance shoes are $14.25 a pair, and steel are $8.00 a pair. The regular (St. Croixx) shoes we put on my horses cost $2.13 per pound, est. about 1/2 pound per shoe or $4 or $5 to shoe all 4 feet on the horse.

It takes more time to put NB shoes on a horse, so an additional charge is certainly in order to cover that as well as the higher cost of the materials.
