Re: [RC] [RC]hundred milers & fear of the dark (and spiders) - RDCARRIE

Ok, here's a really dumb concern (please don't anyone laugh...). How about
fear of spiders? I mean deep rooted, puke-if-they-get-on-me phobia of any and
all spiders. If I ever get to the point of being able to try a 100 miler, and
I hope I do some day, it will have to be in the spring here in East Texas. In
the fall (in fact, from about early July through early January, we have these
big fat red spiders that put their webs across trails, roads, pipeline ROWs,
you name it. They're out all day, but especially after dark. I know I'd be
the turtle on any 100 miler, and the thought of riding along in the dark, and
hitting a web that's been built since the previous rider passed by, and getting
a spider on me just horrifies me. Pretty pathetic, huh? :(
