[RC] [Guest] 100 milers - Ridecamp Guest

Jan Mutchler jmutchler@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Since starting endurance a few years ago, it has been my goal to do
multi-day rides and 100 milers. Now, a few years later, I am still working
at getting both done. I want to do the multi-days to see a lot of country
in a few days. And, I want to do 100's for the personal challenge of
managing my horse for that far in a day. I have tried a 100 miler twice and
got to 85 miles both times before pulling my horse. While some people may
think of that as a failure, I found it to be exhilarating and a wonderful
learning experience. I was very happy that my horse and I had gone more
than 50 miles and we learned a great deal from the experiences. Because of
my own physical limitations (rotten spine) and my horse's man-made problems,
to accomplish what we did was important to me. Sometimes in the "trying"
you find the "winning" and winning comes in many forms. I now have a new
horse buddy thanks to Frank and Becky Solano. Cheefers has quickly become a
wonderful friend and is a joy to ride. I am looking forward to my next
"try" with my new buddy.
