[RC] Nature Conservancy and horse trails - Deblyons54

Someone on the Horsecamp list wrote several months ago the Nature Conservancy was one of the groups working to restrict or limit public trails for horse use. Since I am a Nature Conservancy member I wrote to them (Idaho Chapter) to ask for clarification regarding this issue. Here is their response:

I am responding to your email regarding use of trails by horses.? The Nature Conservancy?of Idaho is not working to close trails to horses.?The properties that we own are open to the public and?the general restrictions for these?properties?are that we do not allow motorized vehicles or camping, which means the trails and roads would be open to horseback riding.? In terms of larger project work in Idaho - where we are trying to conserve larger landscapes by working with private landowners, the federal, state, county and local governments and other partners - there isn't any work, support or effort?by the Conservancy to limit or eliminate trail use by horses.? Whatever your source of information was regarding this matter, it was clearly incorrect.? If I can answer any other questions please let me know.
