[RC] [Guest] knee pain and riding downhill - Ridecamp Moderator

Jan Mutchler jmutchler@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Mel - have you had your knees evaluated by a doctor and had films taken? Could it be arthritis? There are lots of things that could be causing the knee pain. I had surgery on my left knee to realign the patella and medial meniscus removal. One year later, I had a torn medial meniscus in the right knee. Since the first surgery was a disaster, I was not going to have a second surgery. I take gluc/condroiton on a daily basis. But, what really brought me around is that I have been taking Pilates instruction for the past couple months. Now, I can do things with my knees I couldn't do even before they were injured. My legs and the structures supporting the knees are a lot stronger and pain is totally gone. See if you can get a difinitive diagnosis, then go from there. Good luck!
