If he got it for $4/ shot, he paid way way less than Ft. Dodge is charging
Veterinarians. BTW Ft. Dodge also raised the price partway through the
season.

I would like to know what might be done to combat overpricing of vaccines
like WNV.  People are being gouged.  A local rancher got his for $4/shot
from somewhere in Texas (I'm in NM).  My regular vet offered me WNV vaccine
for $25/shot.  I went elsewhere to buy and gave my first round of shots for
a "discounted" price of $21.50 per shot - cost me almost $300 to cover all
my horses.  The second shot I hunted around and found a source in AZ for
$15 each.  Only after that did I discover that the shots could be had for
$4 each.

I'm pretty upset about that.

I hate to say it, but some vets are clearly padding their retirement
accounts on our concerns for horses.  Price gouging is illegal in
emergencies, but I guess the government doesn't think that WNV in horses is
an emergency.
