[RC] Getting corrections to rides - Michael Maul

In response to the following note from DeAnn Schnepple on difficulty getting corrections made for rides:

1. DeAnn states that her pre 1996 miles are not credited. First - the AERC office has previously sent her a screen copy showing that her LD miles prior to 1996 are credited. They have talked to her a number of times. Her record has always shown

Total for 1995 Ride Season 80 Limited Distance Miles

Total for 1994 Ride Season 85 Limited Distance Miles

Total for 1993 Ride Season 110 Limited Distance Miles

Back Miles Credited Total 275 Limited Distance Miles

These do not show up in the online records at

http://www.doublejoy.com/erol/Individual/RiderHistory.asp

because no LD miles are listed there from 1984-1996. Russ, Bob Morris and I spent a year getting the archive info out of an old database in a language that no one living understands today... The LD records were sufficiently difficult to recover and the accuracy was so bad that no LD records are shown online in that period. The link that is at the top of every rider history says

"Information dated from Dec. 1, 1995 forward is complete. Endurance records from 1984-1995 can be considered relatively accurate. At present, Limited Distance records begin with Dec. 1, 1995. There is no ride data on-line prior to Dec.1, 1984."

The data is complete in the AERC office database though.

In the case of rides after 1995 - it is the responsibility of the ride manager to send any changes in pull reasons, participation, finishing order, etc to the office.

If Ms. Schnepple did not start a ride - it is very easy for the RM to confirm that with the office. If the rider feels a pull reason is inaccurate - then the vet at the ride needs to confirm that and the RM needs to send this to the office.

If the ride manager or vet is uncooperative - then the AERC office cannot change any records.

The bottom line here is the rider needs to work with the RM to fix errors - not the office. The office is very responsive when the information is provided correctly.

Mike
