Horse helmet standards require surviving an impact by a simulated shod hoof,
bike standards do not.  This also simulates round rocks, which penetrate
more than pavement.

Horse helmet standards require better lower skull and neck protection.

While bike helmets provide great protection I switched to horse when I found
out the above.
