[RC] dogg collars/ to "End-of-her-tether" Kristene - A. Perez

I have a dog that is an escape artist. Could climp a 4 foot
sheep wire fence when she was 8 weeks old, tunneled under it
when I put on hot-wire. As an adult, she can now clear a 4 foot
fence without touching it. The 'invisible'/radio-type fence is
the ONLY thing that will contain her (but only if used in
conjunction with a solid fence.) I tried all sorts of training
(hid near the fence with a super-soaker water gun and blasted
her when she started climbing it, for example), but she is a
sneaky girl, and learned to wait till I was not around to
escape.

Caveats: they are VERY susceptible to lightning. I've replaced
my transmitter at least 3 times. Before buying one ask the
manufacturer if they have a model with lightening protection and
if they will replace it free of change in the event of a
lightening strike. Also, DON"T bury the wire: run it along the
top of your solid fence: makes maintenace and repair much
easier.

RadioFence is the model I use. They sell a 'stubborn' dog
collar that uses a bigger battery and delivers more of a jolt.
I need this model with my houdini-dog, and you might for your
horse. I have gotten zapped by it myself: it is certainly not
pleasent, but it is much less of a jolt than a typical electric
fence delivers.

These divices are no more cruel than a 'regular' electric
fence.
The major downside is they require leaving your horse haltered
or collared: be sure to use a break-away.
