Re: [RC] Protests and Education - Peggy Bergman-SmithI'm a relative newbie, but I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to know you're overriding your horse. And it certainly isn't just "newbies!" When I did the 20 Mule Team ride, I saw too many horses in the 50 and 100 being trailered back in - and more than a few didn't look too good. This was an FEI ride, so I don't think there were too many "newbies." I don't think most of the time it is a lack of knowledge on the part of the rider - it is a win or top 10 at all costs mentality that overrules all common sense, many times to the detriment of the horse. Education is always good - but ultimately it is the rider, educated or not, that makes the decision to push that horse regardless of the consequences.
