Re: [RC] pre-registration question for ride managers - Barbara McCrary

I deposit the checks AFTER the ride. I used to do it the other way and was
always writing out refund checks. Now, if a rider cancels within the
allowable time, I merely write VOID across it and keep it filed with the
cancelled entry for a year, until next year's ride, then toss it. If the
rider cancels at the registration desk, the check it there to return in
person. If the rider wants to change mileages on registration day, I give
the check back and have the rider write out a new check. Also, it's
important to me to have all checks (in a bank deposit bag) to take to the
registration desk the day before the ride. That way, if there is any
question about how much a rider paid, the check is there for clarification.
All in all, it is much easier for my bookkeeping to deposit all the checks
after the ride.

Subject: [RC] pre-registration question for ride managers

Question for ride managers that do pre-registration:

Do you cash riders' pre-reg checks before the ride? Or wait until after
the
ride is over?

Steph
