My feelings exactly, stated much better than I could.

Same thing goes with dogs.  When I first started teaching 4H dog obedience I
was confronted with agressive dogs.  It took some thought before I realized
that I had instinctively given puppies instant forcefull correction for
agression so by the time they became dogs they didn't threaten humans.
