Re: [RC] Putting horses down vs slaughtering them - CharlesActually the cow thing is a bit different. The cow is Sacred, and you can't kill it. On the other hand, there is no need to feed it, or care for it, or any other obligation. If you can't care for the cow you let it go. If the cow has a calf, you can put a triangle of pointy sticks around its neck and then the mother cow will kick it to death to stop the jabbing when the calf goes to eat. If a cow starves, that's the cows problem. Marvin Harris did an explanation of how or why "cow worship" developed in India and how it helps people survive the weather and climate.
