Re: [RC] Shadowfax --paddling - Lynn Kinsky

My daughter is a Tolkien fan and was apalled at the horses they used for both Shadowfax and the Riders of Rohan She looked up every reference to Shadowfax in the books and swears he was supposed to be gleaming silver in color (as all the Rohan horses), tall, and faster than can be. She said the Andalusian used was paddling so badly it could hardly run!! Karen

The front action quite often comes with the territory if you are dealing with Andalusians. It's a normal footfall (as opposed to paddling which is a conformational or farriery problem), with Andalusian stock being regarded as the ancestral genetic source of their Peruvian Paso cousins' front action trademark called "termino".
