Subject: [RC] When to Do 1st 100

Good Afternoon, Ridecampers.
Alot of talk about when to do a 100.
There is a rider out there, an ultra-marathoner, who did his first Limited Distance (30 miles) last summer (in 2002.)
This past weekend he entered, and won (tied for the win) and his horse won the Best Conditioned award on a TOUGH 100-miler.
He was a fit fella.  His horse was a fit horse.
    They just did it.
Rider fitness, rider experience (gleaned from those who know in his Region and willing to share), horse fitness (acquired from an exceptional endurance rider), working together with the horse to learn to get down the trail, a plan.  Work the plan.
He did it one mile at a time, just kept going.
    Wow.
