[RC] girth position - Kris Hazelbaker

I have a question about girth position and saddle fit. It seems that most
of my horses have had round barrels. So, the girth naturally
fits/moves to the area right behind their front legs. That's okay. But it
seems that many of the saddles I've tried have the girth attached further
back on the saddle so if the girth is straight, the saddle is sitting over
their withers. Or if the saddle is back where is belongs, the girth is
angled, and the saddle tends to slide forward anyway. I've looked at the
various kinds of western rigging - 3/4, 7/8, etc. And I've seen saddles
with adjustable rigging. How adjustable are they? And is this even what I
need to look at to "fix" my problem?

Thanks much for all the insights I know I will get here!
