[RC] [Guest] Chico the Rebel and the Little S hackamore:3 questions - Ridecamp Moderator

Ray O'Donohue rno2m@xxxxxxxxxxxx
Well,we finally tried it,I'm still alive, and now have questions.(1)I notice much better direct rein lateral control/signal than I had expected/feared,almost as good as my current bit.Is that the purpose of the cable which joins the two shanks? Yes,the cable is fragile and will break soon, but I can fix/re-place/re-rig/silver solder the cable as necc.Should that connection be a cable,or a solid light gauge rod? (2)Only rode with it for 40 minutes, and it would obviously have broken the skin if I had gone for a long ride. What is the desired tenderness here? (I suppose if it didn't sting him a bit he wouldn't have any respect for it.)(3)How snug on the curb chain-about like you would set a shanked bit,or...?...I'm sorry to bring all this up again, for I know you've discussed the little S hack in the past, but I have not had much success searching your archives.
