Lots of folks have suggested a treeless sports saddle.  It certainly does
seem like that would be easier to fit to my horse - and definitely
comfortable for me bum, but...

Why doesn't the horse's back get sore from sitting directly on the spine?
And from not having all the rider's weight spread out over a large surface
area?
