[RC] sayings for getting bucked off -and spooks - Teresa Van Hove

WHen I was learning to ride at ~5 yrs, I heard a lot that "there's
never a cowboy that hasn't been thrown, never a horse that hasn't
been rode -- so you are not a real cowboy until you've been thrown"-
So I was actually excited the first time our shetland pony dumped
me, in a soft summerfallow field, since I'd now passed the
initiation to be a real cowboy.

Now my favorite saying for the sideways jumps at nothing much that
Grey likes to do is that he is being my "centered riding
instructor." He does not want to get me off and he is not
frightened. Really is like he's reminding me to stay centered in
the saddle - when I am, the jumps dont move me much -but if I'm off
balance when he jumps then I'm grabbing leather or hitting the
ground.

Cheers,
Teresa, and Grey Moun and Shade.
